Garden Journal

So it finally happened and now its bitter cold. Over the last couple weeks the weather went from being downright balmy to Zero with a wind chill of -15 at night. I have to admit the change caught me off guard as I scrambled to wrap my roses. Those temps are just a little too nippy for my bud unions - and I don't care to wack my roses off at ground level and start from scratch in the Spring if it is not necessary. Too bad we haven't had any snow to protect my flower beds -- very little precip so far this Winter, and no snow. I even had to drag a couple spare bags of mulch into the basement to thaw and spread out on some bare-ish beds. Even most of the fall leaves have blown away. At least I haven't had to shovel!

I am getting some revenge on the cold because today I finished my mail orders for my Spring plants -- Winter can't get me down!
