Victory Against the Parking Lot??!!

This morning a representative from the Streetscape Committee forwarded me an email that states the Committee intends to "delete the parking spaces" from Highspire and that the announcement will be made at the 6/10/2008 Streetscape Meeting! This intent was confirmed to me in person this evening by Mayor Susan Webster.

Much can happen between now and then, but this is a most positive development. Still, the change won't be official until its announced publicly and is reflected on a revised drawing for Wilkes Street.

As of today, over 400+ individuals and 20 businesses have supported Saving Highspire Gardens and have signed the Petitions. Now lets make certain that the Streetscape Committee honors their word and "delete[s]" the Parking Lot as stated!

Innocent of the turmoil surrounding the threatened destruction of the Gardens, this rich bi-color purple Iris (above) bloomed proudly this morning.
